The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is responding to the needs of survivors after Typhoon Seniang tore through the Philippines on December 9. Typhoon Seniang is the fifth typhoon to hit the Philippines this season.

At least four people were killed when Seniang made landfall in the eastern and central Philippines on December 9. More than 90,000 people across the country have been affected by the disaster. In Mindoro province, more than 15,000 families have been affected, as well as over 250 families in Aklan province, and more than 200 families in Romblon province.

In response, ADRA is providing food and shelter assistance to 2,615 people in the three provinces. More than 500 families will receive food items, such as rice, noodles, meat loaf, cooking oil, iodized salt, sugar, mongo beans, and sardines.

ADRA is also distributing building materials, including nails, nipa shingles, and tarps to assist families in reconstructing their homes.

The project is funded by ADRA International, the ADRA Asia regional office in Bangkok, Thailand, and the ADRA Philippines office.

The Philippines is one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world. In late November, Typhoon Durian hit the eastern Philippines, knocking out power, destroying homes, and killing hundreds of residents. ADRA provided immediate relief and medical assistance to thousands of survivors in the affected regions.
