Over 35.000 Christmas boxes for children in Eastern Europe

Children with their parents, kindergartens, schools, scouts and church congregations throughout Germany have collected goods, toys, stationary and non-perishable food items in Christmas boxes for needy children in Eastern Europe. Over 35.000 Christmas packages have been delivered by truck to the following countries: Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova and Serbia. The annual campaign of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency ADRA Germany is called "Children helping Children." Christmas in the Orthodox Eastern Church is celebrated according to Julian calendar on January 6 or January 7 according to Gregorian calendar.

The local action groups in Germany always create new ideas to cover the costs of transportation for the Christmas packages. They organize for example flea markets or cake-bazaars. This year a special thanks goes from the ADRA Germany team to the action group of "Friendly Service". On 23rd November the students have offered during five hours the customers of a shopping centre near Munich to wrap their goods. The students donated the gratuity of 800 Euros to the campaign “Children helping Children".
